The ESX.4cs-gw is the first controller based on the fourth generation platform. The platform is based on the AURIX family from Infineon. This AURIX family includes multi- and single-core processors. The ESX.4cs-gw (c = compact, s = small, gw = gateway) is equipped with a quad-core processor. Three of the cores are available for application development. The fourth core serves as a lock-step core for security-oriented applications. The processor is equipped with 8 MB Flash, 2 MB RAM and 32 kB EEPROM and an external 16 MB Flash memory.
For the gateway function, five Ethernet interfaces (one of them as a mobile Ethernet switch) and additionally six CAN interfaces with CAN-FD support and 12 x inputs and 6 x outputs are available.
